Dean and Neil

Back in July I went to my parents house for a weekend to visit my sister and her new twins (who lived there for the summer). A big thank you to Jason, Lianna and JD who made it possible for me to skip out for a few days and just enjoy being an Auntie and sister and daughter.

It was so fun to meet these two little guys and see what a great mom my sister is. It sure brought back memories. In the spirit of full disclosure, I had two very strong and conflicting emotions upon hearing my sister was going to be living with my parents when her twins were newborns: I was SO HAPPY for her because every new mom should get as much help as possible, but especially twin moms; and SO JEALOUS that she got to live with our mom during that stage and I didn't. My twins are six. We survived. Years ago. But I still had that very real emotion, and honestly it was sometimes magnified while I was there and would look around at the five adults sitting around doting on those two sweet boys. But at the exact same moment I was so glad that was the way it was. Strange, but true.

My Grandparents made the trip out for a day while I was there, and I am so grateful they did. It made an already sweet weekend even sweeter!

Just because we are all grown up and stuff, doesn't mean the childish emotional resentment doesn't still pop up now and again. I remember My grandma having arguments with her sister (by letter) when she was in her 90s. Besides, feelings just are!Good and Bad!
Your sister is twice lucky..having your Mom and you there for even part of the time.

I loved every minute of your trip! There was just something priceless about have both my girls at home again! And look at what cute pictures you got of those darling boys. And don't feel bad, I am not 100% who is who in those pictures either.

They've changed a little since I was there, but I vote the same as Dad =) I thought of you tons while I was there too, Katie. Emily IS a great mom! But I saw how busy Emily STILL was, and my awe and wonder at your survival grew by leaps and bounds and heap and loads. Just so you know, you are freakin amazing. What sweet pictures!!

Dad is correct :) Good job Dad!

And we loved having you visit.

Also, if it makes you feel better they are starting to look more and more alike...I mixed them up the other day!

If I ever had twins, I plan on moving in with your mom as well. (I'm assuming my dad will be a mission president somewhere in this scenario). I just can't imagine how ANYONE does it. I officially add points to your mom card for it :)
