Candy Factory

One of the first adventures in Colorado was to go on a candy factory tour. Emily and her boys, as well as Grandma came with us. We learned lots of cool things: this company uses machines original to the company (from 100 years ago), candy makers are trained for 6 months to 2 years, and candy makers follow their pieces of candy from start to finish!

It was cool to see some candy actually being made, and interesting to watch it change color through the different heating, cooling, and stretching processes.
Of course, the best part was the shop at the end of the tour and the fact that Grandma offered to buy everyone a few dollars' worth of candy! Yummy!

Road Trip

The day after school got out, we rolled out of our driveway at 6am for the 16 hour drive to Colorado. About 4 hours into our drive, going 80mph on I80, the front passenger side window blew out, showering Logan and me with glass! We were so glad no one was hurt, and on the bright side at least it was a car problem that didn't prohibit our drive (just made it quite a bit louder and hotter!). It was totally crazy and a bit scary, and we hope to never experience it again!

Honor Choir

Alison enjoyed participating in a before-school choir this year, and at the end of the year we got to attend two events where she performed. The big concert was at the High School and they were combined with several other local Elementary School choirs. My favorite songs were "Better When I'm Dancing," and "Somewhere Over the Rainbow."
The other performance was at a Kane County Cougar's Baseball game where her choir got to sing the National Anthem.
Jake loved meeting the Cougars:
And the kids got the walk the field before the game.
She did a great job!

Skateboard Game

Logan came up with an awesome, daredevil skateboard game that both his brothers wanted in on!

Spring!

On one of the first days Spring finally decided to make an appearance (about a month ago) we went to the park. It was so nice to enjoy being outside again! We had some tree climbers:

Some rock climbers:
Some runners:
And lots of happy smiles!

A Hat

On an 80 degree day, Jake determined he needed a hat, and a winter hat was the only one that would do. I expected him to take it right off when we got outside, but it stayed on the whole outing. I guess he's asserting his own style!

Museum

Jake and I are really enjoying the Children's Museum this Spring; we go about once a week. He still has his favorite spots where we spend most of our time, but sometimes we find new fun things like these mirrors. Jake loves to be out and about and will thank me after every outing, "Thank you for the store, Mommy," or "Thank you for the doctor, Mommy," but I think he probably has the most fun on the days he gets to say, "Thank you for the Museum, Mommy."

Turban

Logan rolled up this pretty huge, but thin, blanket and was pleased to be able to turn it into a turban!

Sleepy Reader

I just couldn't handle how cute he was; I had to take a picture.
