Happy Birthday

And just like that, we've gone from this:

...to two teenagers.

Happy birthday to the best first kids I could have ever hoped for. It's fun to see how every year they become less people we have to take care of, and move more towards people we just enjoy hanging out with!

Starved Rock

Grandma and Grandpa wanted to see Starved Rock and we were happy to oblige, especially on a beautiful spring day. We went on a hike we hadn't been on before that we loved; the rocks were even bigger and it was off the beaten path so it was much less crowded.

Visit from Grandma and Grandpa

Grandma and Grandpa came to visit in March and, as always, we had so much fun. The day they arrived was national popcorn day, so Grandma brought a couple of different kinds of popcorn to make. 

They got to join us for our weekly Friday night movie.

And of course we had to take a trip to Cantigny. Jake was proud of himself that he was brave enough to climb the (smallest) tanks.

Lovey

Jake LOVES his lovey. He's a little silly with him sometimes, too. Every night Jake loves to get tucked into bed early so he has time to read, and on this night lovey was involved!

Missionaries

We've had some fun, unusual interactions with our missionaries lately. We were asked to be in some new training videos the mission president wanted made. They will be used to train missionaries in our area for the foreseeable future. It was fun to have about 8 Elders in the house and do these "shoots" with very professional cameras and mics, and did several takes until they liked the way everything turned out. We've had sister missionaries in our ward for years now, so it was good for our boys to see some Elders!

Also, the missionaries in our area have put on a couple of really fun events: a drive in movie (Frozen 2), and an Easter egg hunt. We supported both and had such fun! It's been fun for our family to see missionary work can happen in all sorts of ways.

Bed

Eli and Jake made a comfortable little bed out of Logan's huge beanbag chair and some blankets (shhh....don't tell Logan...they were in his room with me when I was changing Logan's sheets...)
