Neither Logan nor Ali were excited about school starting because "school is just a lot of hard work" (Logan) and "I just don't want to" (Ali, who I think was actually nervous), but then we went to preview night and they saw their desks which -gasp- OPEN! And that was it. They were totally sold on first grade and super ready to go!
Here they are on the first day, ready to go. So far, first grade is a hit. They come home happy and look forward to going each morning. And the best part, right now anyway, for me, is that since they get a break from each other they can actually play kindly together again! That hasn't happened for weeks! Ah, school, welcome back. We missed you.

SOOOOOOO CUTE! I would have loved to be there with them and see how it all went! I hope it continues to go well and that they are still happy to be home and be nice. Tell Logan that I love his back pack, even if you can't get a straight face out of him half the time.
Awe Bita, what's so great about a straight face? A desk that opens is certainly a huge draw and some time apart is definitely helpful at this age. My oldest boy called me 3-4 years ago and told me "yes". I said what? He said he did just enjoy hearing a little girl scream. There was a commercial where a brother makes his sister scream and he loved the sound of it. I think it is on that y chromosome. He said he was just answering a question I had apparently asked him often in his youth. Made me laugh. good luck. Likely they will be best friends if they survive childhood.
