For the first time this year, Ali and Logan had separate birthday parties. We had them both on Monday, a day off from school, Logan's from 10-noon and Ali's from 1-3pm. I chose to have Logan's first because I thought Ali would be able to be patient about waiting for her party...I was wrong about that, but in the end she settled down and was able to enjoy participating in Logan's party while waiting for hers. I was still glad I did them in the order we did because the boys were super energetic and I'm not sure I would have enjoyed them as much if they were the second party of the day:)
Along with his siblings, Logan had David, Addison, Jared and Cade to help him celebrate his birthday. We had a moon-rock hunt (rocks painted neon green hidden in the front room); a moon-rock relay where they had to use space arms (aka serving tongs) to move the rocks from one place to another as teams; pin the antennae on the alien (both drawn by Logan, they loved this so we played twice); the kept the asteroids (aka balloons) from hitting their spaceship (aka the floor) using their space arms (aka serving tongs); musical chairs where the chairs were the spaceship and it was shrinking because spaceships loose pieces as they move further into space; we threw foil balls at the attacking aliens (or pictures of them strung on a rope); and attempted to remove nuts and blots from the bottom of bowls of water wearing astronaut gloves (aka medical gloves) using the ever-present space arms (serving tongs).
If you're wondering why we had the parties a month before the kids' birthdays, this cute boy is the reason: Cade and his family moved this week, and he was the first person Logan thought of when he was listing off friends he wanted to invite. So we had the parties early. Poor consolation to having a friend move away, but a sliver lining nonetheless.
Jason and I are so thankful to be the parents of such a creative, thoughtful, imaginative, funny, smart, helpful, amazing boy.

Katie, someday these kids will realize how lucky they are that they got you for a mom. :)
Two parties in one day, No way! You are amazing!
My family always just adjusted the birthdays to convenient times and days. We never even remember to wish uncle David or Duane happy birthday on their actual birthdays.
Wow, I loved this post cause even though Jared told me it was a great party and had lots of fun with musical chairs, that is about all the details I got from him. You are an amazing mom!!
